Due to dangerous pollution levels, Punjab’s Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb declared that all schools up to the upper secondary level will be closed in strategic divisions throughout the state.
In order to prioritize public health in the face of increasing pollution levels, Aurangzeb said during a news conference held at the Chief Minister’s House that schools in the Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Multan divisions will switch to online instruction till November 17.
The air quality index, or AQI, is 1,150 today. The air quality index was 500 yesterday, which is extremely harmful, Aurangzeb said, advising parents to keep their kids inside and switch to online education. She further emphasized that this change is a precautionary step to reduce exposure to harmful air pollutants, not a vacation.
