The strapline “it sounded deceptively real” appeared under the heading “Michael Schumacher, the first interview,” and the article disclosed that artificial intelligence (AI) was used to create the statements.
Schumacher, 55, has not been in public since sustaining severe brain injuries in a skiing accident in December 2013.
A family representative confirmed the verdict against Funke Media Group, the magazine’s proprietors, to Reuters news agency.
