According to specialists, she may have died as a result of a rare incident known as a cadaveric spasm, which caused her muscles to harden and immortalized her suffering.
The disorder causes the muscles to freeze in the same posture the individual was in when they died.
Although her exact cause of death is unknown, cadaveric spasms are typically associated with violent deaths caused by extreme physical conditions and strong emotions.
For 90 years, specialists have been mystified by the Screaming Woman’s terrifying expression.
However, fresh analysis using CT scans to perform a “virtual dissection” has revealed a number of new facts, challenging the commonly held belief that her pained appearance was the product of poor embalming.
The study’s leader, Cairo University radiology professor Sahar Saleem, stated: “The mummy’s screaming facial expression in this study might be read as a cadaveric spasm, meaning that the woman died screaming from misery or torture.
