The actor, who has not been seen on screen in six years, was scheduled to make a comeback in October as part of the departure narrative involving his character’s ex-wife, Gail Platt.
It follows the earlier declaration that Helen Worth, who has starred as Gail on the TV soap opera for 50 years, was set to depart the show.
TV said on Friday that Sean Wilson has stepped down from filming due to personal reasons.
Wilson was scheduled to begin filming sequences on July 24, according to an early statement. The storyline centers on his on-screen son David (Jack P Shepherd), who is astonished to discover his father at the house and becomes suspicious about it.
Wilson was called to a meeting at TV’s offices, according to The Sun, and he never showed up back on the set.
Prior to this, Wilson expressed his gratitude for being asked to “contribute to Helen’s exit story” and compared his comeback to “slipping on an old and comfortable jumper from the back of the wardrobe” to his new role.
