QUETTA: Chief Mines Inspector Abdul Ghani announced that the search operation had concluded after the recovery of another collier’s body from Sanjidi’s coal mine near Quetta on Tuesday, following the recovery of 11 other dead earlier.
The coal mine collapsed on January 9 as a result of an explosion caused by gas filling.
“The coal mine collapsed after the gas explosion, trapping at least 12 colliers,” Ghani stated.
Rescuers recovered the bodies of seven more colliers who were among those trapped inside the mine in the Sanjidi area earlier on Sunday, bringing the total number of fatalities to 11.
