He broke away from the group close to the radar tower off Crosby Beach in Waterloo, according to the police, and hasn’t been seen since.
A cordon was established on the beach after emergency services were contacted soon after 7 p.m. on Sunday.
According to the local media, a coast guard helicopter was hovering over the scene, and there were numerous fire engines and ambulances nearby.
“We are asking people to avoid the area at this time, whilst the emergency services, including the coastguard and North West Ambulance Service, continue searching for the missing boy,” stated Merseyside Police.
