LAHORE: The registrar’s office was instructed by the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday to schedule a hearing for a case contesting the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Amendment Ordinance 2024.
The issue that the petition did not have a relevant bench was dismissed by the court.
The request was submitted a few days after the federal cabinet gave its approval to the ordinance, which was also endorsed by President Asif Ali Zardari just hours earlier on September 20.
The much-discussed ordinance was adopted by the cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, “through a circulation” on September 19, the night the Ministry of Law forwarded it to the PM and cabinet.
