Following a false earthquake alarm, more than a dozen female students at a government girls’ high school in Jehanian tehsil, Khanwal district, Punjab, were hurt when they leaped from the second floor of the school building.
School teachers said that the incident happened as a result of tremors and loud gear coming from a nearby construction site on Muhalqa Road.
Students were scared by the noises and sensations, which led to a stampede.
The injured students were taken to the hospital by rescue personnel. Mairaj Fatima, 14, Nisha Naveed, 10, Zulekha, 13, Laiba Kulsum, 13, Mahnoor Nazakat, 12, Munsaa Shokat, 13, Faiza Ramadan, and 13 are among those hurt.
