The world of Westeros is growing, according to George R.R. Martin, the author of the critically acclaimed fantasy series Game of Thrones, who also disclosed that three animated spinoffs are in development.
The renowned author stated on his blog, “As it happens, HBO and I have our own animated projects, set in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire.”
The novelist did disclose that the two ideas are not yet ready to move forward.
“None of them have been greenlit yet, but I think we are getting close to taking the next step with a couple of them.”
According to George, “When this last round of development started a few years back, we had four ideas for animated shows, with some great talents attached.”
“Writers’ chambers and summits, eventually followed by outlines and scripts… Unfortunately, though, two of the initial initiatives were later scrapped,” the 75-year-old said.
George unveiled the House of the Dragon prequel in the interim. Nine Voyage has shifted from live-action to animation.
