The 66-year-old chartered surveyor John Daniels became ill after claiming to have had a chicken and bacon Caesar wrap from Boots in May.
As a precaution, the product was one of several that was later recalled.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is currently looking into the statewide outbreak of the STEC strain of E. coli.
Out of the almost 200 cases of the virus, it has been established that one person has passed away.
Following his diagnosis, Mr. Daniels, a resident of Cheshire, was taken to the hospital for three days before being released. It is still affecting him with problems.
I kept asking myself whether this was something more sinister and if I was really going to survive, especially when I had all the drips in and the painkillers weren’t working.
One night in particular, I was afraid to go to sleep because I believed I wouldn’t wake up.As a precaution, the UKHSA removed dozens of products off store shelves after identifying lettuce in wraps and sandwiches as a possible cause of the infection.
Nearly half of individuals who were verified to have contracted the extremely dangerous E. Coli strain STEC were hospitalized.
