ISLAMABAD Shafqat Ali Khan, a career diplomat and former ambassador to Russia, was named the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ new spokesperson on Thursday.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the nation’s ambassador to France, has been replaced by Shafqat.
Ishaq Dar, the Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, announced Shafqat’s appointment at a news conference.
He also praised the departing spokesperson’s work, stating that the Pakistani government had appointed her ambassador to France in appreciation of her contributions.
In November 2022, Baloch was named spokesperson for the Foreign Office, succeeding senior diplomat Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, who was also appointed ambassador to Paris.
