LONDON—The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is purposefully preventing PTI politician and former special assistant to the prime minister Mirza Shahzad Akbar from participating in “several investigations of a serious nature” in which he has been accused, Akbar said.
Outside the Pakistan High Commission in Knightsbridge, the former accountability czar spoke to the media on Thursday, criticizing the same organization he oversaw and steered with an iron hand from 2018 until his departure in 2021.
In response to call-up notices, Akbar went to the high commission to request authorization to participate in the inquiries via video link.
He claimed that after repeatedly requesting video link appearances from NAB and not receiving a favorable answer, he attended in person to make the request.
