On Monday, former judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) was named head of the National Industrial Relations Commission.
Siddiqui’s nomination was announced following the federal cabinet’s approval. The former judge was chosen to serve as chairman for a period of three years.
Following the Supreme Court’s decision, President Asif Ali Zardari approved the former IHC judge’s retirement notice months prior.
On the Supreme Judicial Council’s (SCJ) recommendation, former President Arif Alvi dismissed Siddiqui as an IHC judge in October 2018.
