According to Israeli news agency , the suspects were all reportedly offering intelligence on vital military and energy installations in a joint statement released by the Israeli Police and Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security agency.
Five individuals—Aziz Nisanov, Alexander Sedykov, Vyacheslav Gushchin, Yevgeny Yoffe, and Yigal Nissan—as well as two minors whose identities are being kept under wraps have been detained and charged with conducting espionage to assist two Iranian agents operating under the operational code names “Elkhan” and “Orkhan.”
These crimes are among the most serious security breaches Israel has ever experienced in terms of scope and intensity. The Israeli Police purportedly stated in a statement that the suspects acted with knowledge, were motivated by financial gain, and jeopardized the security of Israel and its residents.
The accused, who live in Haifa and other northern Israeli communities, are suspected of obtaining intelligence about Israeli military installations, such as air force and navy stations, and Israel’s notorious Iron Dome defensive system.
