The country’s continuous attempts to restore economic stability and alleviate the power crisis have benefited greatly from the government’s coordinated efforts, in conjunction with law enforcement authorities, to combat electricity theft.
Recent reports state that authorities have successfully retrieved more than Rs. 12.6 billion from Pakistani power thieves. The operation has also resulted in the arrest of over 86,326 people implicated in electricity theft.
Over Rs. 126.6 million was recovered from power thieves in several places, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Multan, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Quetta, by the appropriate agencies between October 13 and October 26. 308 people were taken into custody for their roles in electricity theft during this time.
