An official announcement released on Friday states that all public educational institutions in Sindh would be closed on January 28.
With considerable religious fervor, the holiday has been declared to commemorate Shab-e-Miraj, the Night of Ascent.
In order to commemorate the Isra (travel) and Mairaj (ascension) of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), who was taken on a unique voyage to see Allah Almighty, spanning seven skies on the celestial beast known as “al-Buraq,” Muslims celebrate Shab-e-Mairaj annually on the 27th of Rajab (Lunar calendar).
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) kept traveling through heaven until he came extremely close to Allah Almighty’s throne and achieved the closest possible proximity to Him. He came down to share what he had learned after drinking from the Divine fountain of spiritual wisdom.
