KARACHI: Late Saturday night, the roof of a Bannu family’s house under construction fell in the Gulshan-e-Maymar neighborhood of Karachi, killing six of them and injuring four more, according to The News.
According to the police, the roof collapsed, trapping ten people beneath the debris. When the roof collapsed, work was being done to reinforce the lintel-based framework. The weight of the gravel and sand was too much for the roof.
Residents of the Afghan Camp area requested assistance from rescue crews following the horrific event that had taken place there. Ten injured persons were promptly rescued from the wreckage by locals, and they were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where six of them—all girls between the ages of three and fifteen—were declared dead.
