On Saturday morning, the port city’s air quality index (AQI) value skyrocketed to 212, making it the world’s most polluted large metropolis according to the Swiss firm, IQAir.
Around 9:20 a.m., the concentration of harmful PM2.5 particles in Karachi’s air was 27.4 times greater than the WHO’s recommended level.
For the first time in a month, the city’s air quality briefly above the 200-point barrier, which is considered “very unhealthy” for humans, according to the air quality monitor’s depiction of the city’s declining air quality.
