Facebook and TikTok are among the social media sites that Punjab Police employees are not permitted to use while on duty.
This move comes in response to worries that police were neglecting their official duties in favor of spending more time on social media, especially creating TikTok videos.
The Punjab inspector general of police (IGP) was apparently given instructions by the chief minister’s office to implement social media usage limitations, which led to the issuance of the ban. Many Punjab Police officers and staff were using social media, and recordings of them—including those of female officials—were becoming more and more popular there every day, according to a notification.
Additionally, the new regulation forbids police officers from posting videos to social media while they are in their official uniforms.
