Speaker Ayaz Sadiq of the National Assembly called an urgent meeting in his chambers on Tuesday to discuss the recent arrests of members from within the Parliament House, an incident that has raised a lot of attention.
Speaker Sadiq demanded an explanation for the acts carried out within the Parliament House during the meeting, expressing his deep dissatisfaction with Inspector General (IG) of Police Ali Nasir Rizvi of Islamabad over the arrests. According to sources, he gave the order to take action to guarantee the release of the members who had been detained.
Why were the lawmakers taken into custody within the Parliament Building? This cannot continue. Perform an exhaustive investigation of the matter as a whole,” the speaker instructed.
Speaker Sadiq made it plain that any arrests made inside Parliament House or Parliament Lodges are “unacceptable” and will not be allowed, even though the police have the right to keep people outside the building.
