As part of its geyser campaign, the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has begun billing customers for the installation of conical baffles, charging an extra Rs 2,085.
Since this fee was applied prior to any installation, many customers—especially those without geysers—have expressed concern.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) made it clear that the installation of these baffles intends to improve safety and reduce gas usage in response to the public outrage.
Affected customers were instructed by OGRA to file complaints with the Customer Facilitation Centers (CFC) or SSGC.
The program, which is a component of the government’s energy-saving efforts, is anticipated to decrease gas bill costs for customers by up to 25%.
