Popular actress Issa Rae, who starred in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, opened up about the hard truths of the entertainment industry.
The multihyphenate made an appearance on Thursday for a confessional interview with Time magazine, where she discussed the top executives in the business candidly.
Issa said, “I’ve never seen Hollywood this scared and clueless, and at the mercy of Wall Street,” before apologizing and pointing out that “there aren’t a lot of smart executives anymore.” She accused them of impeding the ascent of newcomers. And many of them are getting older, clinging to their status, and not allowing new people to join.
“Now these conglomerate leaders are also making the decisions about Hollywood,” the American actress and writer added.
