It follows the biggest earthquake in recent memory, a magnitude 5.2 tremor between the Greek islands of Amorgos and Santorini that was registered at 21:09 local time (19:09 GMT) on Wednesday. It is thought to have happened 5 km (3.1 miles) below the surface.
An order to “address the emergency needs and manage the consequences” will be in place until March 3rd, according to officials.
Over 11,000 people have already departed Santorini, with about 4,000 flying out and 7,000 taking the ferry.
At 07:50 local time on Thursday, a 4.7 magnitude earthquake was also detected southwest of Amorgos, after 57 tremors occurred between midnight and 06:30.
