Given the current condition of events in the country, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has called for closer cooperation between the military and civil leaderships in order to maintain national stability.
In a Monday interview, Dar stated, “The country’s situation demands better civil-military ties.”
In response to questions regarding the proposed constitutional amendments that continue to divide the nation’s political elite, the deputy prime minister stated that while the Charter of Democracy was signed in 2006, the agenda for constitutional reforms is not new.
He clarified that the points on judicial reforms were included in the charter.
Dar continued by saying that Maulana Fazlur Rehman of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl and Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), also consented to the Charter.
