With one suicide reported every three days, the trend of suicide in the Indian Army is fast rising.
In the Indian Army, there are 16.5% suicides for every 100,000 personnel.
Details show that 895 Indian Army personnel, 185 Indian Air Force members, and 32 Indian Navy personnel committed suicide between 2010 and 2019. In India-held Kashmir, there are around 100 suicides on average every year.
There have been 983 documented suicide instances in the Indian Army, 96 in the Indian Navy, and 246 in the Indian Air Force since 2014. Over 3,300 Indian troops have killed themselves in a variety of circumstances since 2001.
