Sunderland footballer cleared of rape and sexual assault

Football player Jack Diamond of Sunderland has been exonerated of charges of raping and assaulting a woman he met on a dating app. The woman, whom the 23-year-old winger first met on Tinder and invited to his house, was found not guilty of rape and sexual assault. In May 2022, Diamond denied hitting the woman at his Washington, Sunderland, home. Diamond was accused by the prosecution of forcing himself on the woman after they had agreed that “nothing more than cuddling would happen” before she turned around. Diamond testified in court that they had engaged in consensual sexual activity throughout the evening and that he thought the woman had been “in a mood with him” following her request for complete sex, to which he declined.
