The Superintendent of Jail has been suspended following reports of a sexual assault against a 20-year-old female prisoner in the Battagram sub-jail.
Given the circumstances, Shahrayar is the subject of an investigation. The matter is made more complicated by the confirmation of the assault by a government hospital.
The district police officer for Battagram reported that Shahrayar had been granted pre-arrest bail by a local court. In spite of this, he was suspended, and a departmental investigation is now in progress.
An announcement from the Ministry of Interior states that Sadaf, a prisoner, has accused Superintendent of Jail Shahrayar of rape. He has been the target of a case brought in response to these accusations.
