The producer lost his wife, “Three’s Company” star Suzanne Somers, a year ago. On October 15, 2023, the actress died, one day shy of turning 77. For more than 23 years, she suffered from breast cancer.
Hamel expressed his gratitude to News for the amazing love he shared with Somers.
That day [we met], Suzanne contacted her lovely mother and said, “I just met the man I am going to marry,” he revealed. “We both knew this was real, not a flirting moment.”
Hamel said that they were willing to take on the challenge of bringing their families together.
Those of you who have done this know how difficult an assignment that is,” he said. “But Suzanne declared that she would put our two families together and create one magnificent family – that she did. And six beautiful grandkids iced the cake.”
Hamel admitted they experienced plenty of ups and downs, but they were always determined to overcome any struggles that came their way.
