Speaking at a gathering held here on Wednesday, he declared that they would block Swabi-Mardan Road until their demand—that the Maneri Bala bridge be completed—was met.
According to him, the bridge’s purpose was to make it simple for people to travel to Maneri Bala; but, because of its unfinished state, its estimated cost could rise from Rs. 12 million to Rs. 16 million.
Mr. Khan, an Awami National Party local leader, said that the irrigation department was responsible for the project. He mentioned rumors that the project had been shelved. He went on to say that the locals and people who live in the suburbs shouldn’t be made to demonstrate.
