The cost of tickets for the T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan, bitter rivals, has skyrocketed.
On June 1, the US and West Indies will host the marquee T-20 event across the Atlantic. On June 9, the two subcontinental teams from group A will face off.
Cricket fans have been anticipating the Indo-Pak match with great anticipation.
In the meantime, former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi has accused the ICC of stealing from cricket enthusiasts by raising ticket prices to $20,000 while posing as a cricket promoter in the USA.
He stated on his account that a single Diamond Club ticket cost $20,000 (about Rs. 5.6 million), while a typical stand would cost $2,750 (about Rs. 0.76 million).
He added that while the T-20 World Cup was being held in the USA to promote cricket and build relationships with cricket fans, it was inappropriate to take advantage of them by selling tickets.
Some media sources claim that tickets for a select few intense matches are being sold for exorbitant prices; however, the ICC has not commented on this claim.
