Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, the chairman of the troubled Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stated on Thursday that they had held discussions with the current government, but the discussions were unproductive, following the “final call” rally in Islamabad that prompted more legal issues for the party.
Gohar acknowledged on the news show “Talk” that “we had established some initial contacts,” but he would not provide specifics about the discussions the PTI and the government held to resolve political disagreements.
According to program presenter Hamid Mir, he made the statement when asked about a possible “deal” between the two parties, with some government sources asserting that they were on the verge of reaching an amicable resolution to political difficulties, including the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.
Gohar also confirmed that the PTI leaders notified Imran, the party’s imprisoned founder.
