Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar responded on Thursday to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) January 31 deadline for the outcome-focused negotiations by saying that the federal government “does not take it seriously” and calling it a “face-saving” move.
The PTI negotiation team reconfirmed the demands of a judicial investigation into the May 9 riots, a late-night crackdown on November 26, and the release of “political prisoners” at its meeting with the party founder at Adiala Jail earlier today.
Speaking to reporters following the meeting, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, the head of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), stated, “PTI founder [Imran Khan] is ready to forgive everyone for all the ill-treatment he has suffered for the sake of Pakistan.”
