The 25-year-old, who was the first deaf competitor on the ITV2 show, was candid about her use of a cochlear implant, a tiny electrical device that improves hearing.
However, she made the decision not to include it one morning when filming an edit for Get Ready With Me featuring her daily regimen.
After that, she pressed “record” and shared her first complete video in which she addressed her fans in a “deaf accent” without the implant.
The phrase describes the speech patterns of people who are deaf or have hearing loss.
Although each person is unique, the process by which people learn to speak and generate language can have an impact on how they hear themselves.
Tasha said to her audience in the video, “I don’t know how loud I’m speaking, or how clear I’m speaking.”
She tells BBC Newsbeat that she had previously filmed many brief segments, each lasting roughly five seconds, without her implant, but she has never created an entire video.
She adds, “I usually never put it in in the morning,” after realizing that videos taken using her implant didn’t depict the “true” Tasha.
She responds, “That’s not what I do.” “So I’m going to change that.”
Though Tasha admits that she was nervous to publish the video and see the comments, she claims that the response has been “just incredible”.
It has nearly 3 million views since she uploaded it, and TikTok users have shared it extensively.
