Vehicle owners who have fallen behind in token tax payments may face severe penalties, according to the Excise and Taxation Department.
Excise and Taxation Director Bilal Azam Khan has said that vehicles registered to tax defaulters will no longer be registered as of January 1, 2025.
In order to prevent legal repercussions, the director advised residents to pay their debts very away. Defaulters have been given a grace period of 15 days to pay their token taxes.
“If registration is cancelled, a 200% penalty will be imposed for its restoration,” said the director.
The department urged car owners to make sure they pay their taxes on time and reaffirmed its dedication to upholding tax laws. Director Bilal Azam Khan stated, “Citizens are encouraged to deposit token taxes immediately to avoid inconvenience or penalties.”
