Representatives Jared Golden of Maine, Mary Peltola of Alaska, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington, Vicente Gonzalez of Texas, Greg Landsman of Ohio, and Jeff Jackson of North Carolina are among the Democrats who supported the legislation, which passed 219 to 194.
Michael McCaul, a Republican from Texas who chaired the House Foreign Affairs Committee and looked into the disorganized military operation for years, presented the measure.
“Three years after the deadly and chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Biden-Harris administration has yet to hold anyone accountable for one of the most devastating foreign policy blunders in American history,” McCaul said news.
McCaul added that Biden officials “prioritized optics over security,” which contributed to the deaths of the 13 American service men who were slain in a terror attack at Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport while the pullout was underway.
During the bill’s last moments of debate on the House floor, McCaul announced their identities.
The resolution singles out fifteen officials of the Biden administration, both present and past, including Vice President Biden, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, and former President of the White House.
