RAWALPINDI: On Thursday, the first day of the crucial third Test match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Pakistan lost three wickets after bowling out England for 267 in their opening innings. This was a result of their top order batting lineups struggling.
While Jack Leach terminated Saim Ayub’s innings at 19 in the 12th over, England’s Shoaib Bashir dismissed Abdullah Shafique (14) in the 9th over. By taking Kamran Ghulam’s wicket for three, Gus Atkinson dealt the hosts a serious blow.
At the end of the first day of the series decider, however, captain Shan Masood (16) and Saud Shakeel (16) stabilized Pakistan’s faltering lineup at 73/3.
At 1-1, the three-test series is tied.
