March Aurat The feminist group Karachi, which organizes the yearly Women’s Day march, has called on Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to resign or provide an apology following her remarks regarding the purported rape of a student in Lahore.
Maryam’s “vile and regressive language” infuriated the organization, which declared the CM “unfit to represent the public while disregarding the safety, rights, and dignity of survivors of sexual violence.”
At a news conference on Wednesday, Maryam called the alleged on-campus rape of the student a “fabricated story” and refuted “rumours spread on social media.”
