WASHINGTON: The US State Department has verified that the Biden administration got the letter from 60 Congressmen calling for the release of Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
This was stated by State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller in response to a question during Monday’s media briefing in Washington. “We will respond in due course to the members,” he said.
On October 23, 60 members of Congress signed a letter requesting the release of Imran and other political prisoners and urging the Biden administration to support democracy and human rights in Pakistan.
The letter also emphasized the crackdown on social media and the internet, as well as the purported anomalies in elections.
