On Friday, a bill to expand the number of Supreme Court justices will be introduced in the National Assembly.
The measure would expand the number of judges from 17 to 23, including the Chief Justice of Pakistan, according to parliamentary sources. The law will be introduced by the government.
The government has now taken over the project, although Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry had earlier filed a similar bill as a private member’s bill.
Additionally, discussions about changes to the Practice and Procedure Act are still going on.
According to sources, the National Assembly session has been prolonged till Friday in order to facilitate the bill’s passage. Originally, the session was supposed to end on Tuesday.
