In a live-action Masters of the Universe movie, Nicholas Galitzine, who recently starred in The Idea of You as a boy band star who falls in love with an older woman, has been revealed as the new He-Man.
Swedish action actor Dolph Lundgren played the title character in the first live-action adaptation of He-Man, which was released in 1987.
In that 1980s version, a young Courtney Cox also makes an appearance as Julie Winston, an orphaned adolescent who assists He-Man in rescuing the universe from Skeletor.
The next movie will be helmed by Travis Knight, the director of Bumblebee, although information about the narrative are still being withheld.
In addition, Galitzine, the main character, played opposite Julianne Moore in the period drama Mary and George and the film Red, White, and Royal Blue from Amazon Studios.
The highly skilled Nicholas Galitzine will be playing our He-Man, and we are happy to be bringing the legendary Masters of the Universe to life, according to Julie Rapaport, head of film production and development at Amazon MGM Studios.
“Joining forces with director Travis Knight, Mattel, and Escape Artists, this reintroduction of the character and his universe will be an epic film that will delight audiences from here to Eternia.”
