KARACHI: A chief fire officer (CFO) stated on Tuesday that a fire that started in a multi-story building in the port city had been put out after hours of firefighting.
CFO Humayun Khan reported that in addition to the Pakistan Navy and Rescue 1122 rescue teams, 11 fire tenders and two snorkels took part in the firefighting operation.
“We’ve opened MA Jinnah Road to traffic,” he added.
Locals claim that the fire started in a first-floor apartment of the multi-story structure before moving to the higher stories.
Residents reportedly reported that they had to leave the building and try to contain the fire on their own because the fire department and other rescue crews were late in arriving.
