In between the band’s tour dates—the next gigs are in Florida in March—Eagles co-founder Don Henley is anticipated to testify at the trial in Manhattan, New York.
Regarding the rare situation, there are over 100 pages of drafts including the lyrics to songs from the 1976 record Hotel California, the third-best-selling album in US history.
In addition to facing charges of conspiracy to possess stolen property, rare books dealer Glenn Horowitz, former Rock and Roll Hall of Fame curator Craig Inciardi, and memorabilia vendor Edward Kosinski are accused of plotting to obstruct Eagles co-founder Don Henley’s attempts to retrieve the documents.
They have all entered not guilty pleas and denied the accusations.
The Manhattan trial began on Wednesday. In his opening remarks, district attorney Nicholas Penfold told the court, “The defendants were not businessmen acting in good faith, but criminal actors.”
They “deceived and manipulated to try to frustrate” Henley’s attempts to retrieve manuscripts that were legally his, according to him.
