Marianne Faithfull died quietly today in London, surrounded by her devoted family, according to a statement from her representative.
The singer had already experienced a number of health issues, such as emphysema brought on by decades of smoking, breast cancer, and bulimia.
She had COVID-19 in 2020 and spent 22 days in the hospital.
Her 21st album, She Walks in Beauty, was released a year after doctors stated they did not think she would live.
Mick Jagger, the frontman of the Rolling Stones, dated Marianne Faithfull in the 1960s.
In his tribute, Jagger said he was “so saddened” and called Faithfull “a wonderful friend, a beautiful singer, and a great actress.”
