Following accusations that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government had misaligned the priorities for law and order, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur vehemently denied the Center’s assertions that his government was unable to handle security issues and empower the province’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).
At a press conference in Peshawar on Sunday, Gandapur responded to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s assertion that the CTD was failing to eradicate terrorism in the province. “The law and order situation has improved in our government,” he claimed.
He went on to say that the counterterrorism department had “thousands of successful operations” against terrorists and was operating at full capacity.
He added that the CTD will receive an extra Rs 1 billion from the provincial government.
