Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan received a letter from the Registrar’s Office of the Lahore High Court that included threatening language in addition to a questionable powder substance.
This comes after identically threatening letters were sent in recent days to four other Lahore High Court judges: Justice Shujaat Ali, Justice Shahid Bilal, Justice Aliya Neelam, and Justice Abid Aziz.
Forensic teams, police officers, and representatives of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) have been sent to the Lahore High Court to investigate these threats in depth.
The powder discovered in the letters mailed to the judges appears to be anthrax, according to preliminary reports; nevertheless, laboratory testing will be required to establish the substance’s identity.
