According to a senior provincial finance department official, civic bodies must create an annual budget and get their governing bodies’ approval.
He stated that although the civic bodies have to approve their budgets prior to the beginning of the fiscal year, the Punjab government’s inability to form the governing body was the reason why the process was delayed this time.
According to an RDA representative, their budget has been established and will be submitted to the newly formed governing body. “It may be considered unusual, but it’s not unlawful. However, he stated, “The civic body is not to blame; the Punjab government is.”
