The original plan for the venue was to host two stand-up concerts by Peter Kay on April 23 and 24, however these dates were postponed due to issues that arose during a test event that included Ricky Astley as the main attraction.
Many other groups have been forced to reschedule or postpone their Co-op Live performances in the last two weeks, but this evening, Manchester band Elbow will be the first to open the doors to fans.
The London band , who were the support act, apparently started the show a little late. As the enormous arena filled with fans, they were the first to enter the stage.
Elbow began playing just after 9 p.m., and singer Guy Garvey said, “let’s open this venue properly,” according to News What’s On Editor Jenna Campbell, who wrote about it on news.
