Billy McFarland, who was imprisoned for over four years in connection with the disastrous incident, stated in a Wall Street Journal interview that “Fyre II has to work.”
Those who purchased tickets for the unsuccessful 2017 event paid as much as £9,200 per person for what was advertised as an ultra-luxury festival offering excellent cuisine and music on a Caribbean island.
Supermodels Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski appeared in advertising advertisements for the Fyre Festival, promising white sand, opulent lodging, and top-notch cuisine (though they later distanced themselves from the event).
However, when attendees got there, they saw a “disaster tent city” that had been submerged in rain; this ended up serving as the subject of the 2019 Netflix documentary, FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened.
It was called “a post-apocalyptic nightmare” by the guests, and pictures of the melancholy-looking cheese sandwich that was served for supper went viral.
Even though the event resulted in losses over $26 million (£20 million) due to cancellations owing to insufficient lodging, food, and water, McFarland has since declared that a sequel will undoubtedly take place.
