RAWALPINDI: After their heartbreaking Champions Trophy loss, Pakistan’s interim head coach Aqib Javed stated on Wednesday that the management would act in the best interests of the national team.
After two straight losses in the group round, to New Zealand and India, the squad captained by Mohammad Rizwan was eliminated from the major tournament that Pakistan is hosting.
“Not a single player in the squad was included without performance,” Javed said during a press conference in Rawalpindi, refuting the idea that players were chosen arbitrarily.
“We cannot simply replace the entire team with the Under-19 squad just because we lost,” he said.
