Peter Lundgren, a well-known coach and tennis player from Sweden, passed away on Friday at the age of 59, his family announced.
During the 1980s, Lundgren was a well-known player in Swedish tennis and belonged to the generation of players who followed the great Bjorn Borg. Alongside well-known players like Mats Wilander and Stefan Edberg, he carved up a prosperous career that culminated in three ATP titles and a career-high position of 25th in the world.
After retiring from competition, Lundgren had a big influence as a coach. His time spent mentoring Roger Federer at a critical period in his early career is what made him most famous. Federer won his first Grand Slam title and ten ATP titles while being mentored by Lundgren.
